Build Trust. Navigate Change with five days of Inclusion in Action

Published on September 10, 2026

National Inclusion Week 2026 - 14–18 September 2026

Inclusion isn't something we simply believe in. It's something we practise

  • in our meetings
  • conversations
  • decisions
  • language
  • and everyday interactions

Inclusive Employers themselves emphasise that National Inclusion Week should be used as a springboard for longer-term action rather than something that starts and finishes in one week.

Five days, five conversations and five practical opportunities to make inclusion part of everyday working life.

Day

Focus

Key question

Action

🔴 Monday

SEE

What barriers might we be overlooking?

Notice one barrier.

🔵 Tuesday

What helps people feel included?

Listen without trying to fix.

🟢 Wednesday

Which everyday behaviour could we change?

Change one behaviour.

🟠 Thursday

SPEAK UP

What could you do when you see exclusion?

Prepare one useful phrase.

🟣 Friday

ACT

What will you personally do differently?

Make a 30-day commitment.

Take part throughout the week

🎥 Watch — explore a short video or learning resource.

🎧 Listen — hear experiences and perspectives different from your own.

💬 Discuss — take part in a team or community conversation.

🧠 Reflect — consider what the day’s theme means for your work.

🎯 Act — turn one insight into a practical step.

Adding accessibility across the entire week

For every post you make consider:-

  • Use alt text
  • Don't put essential information only in an image
  • Caption videos
  • Avoid text-heavy graphics
  • Use plain English
  • Don't rely solely on colour to communicate meaning
  • Provide transcripts where possible
  • Make activities work for remote/hybrid/frontline staff
  • Give people alternatives to speaking publicly

This is particularly appropriate because Inclusive Employers' current planning guidance stresses accessibility and reach across remote, hybrid and frontline colleagues.

The UK Government's current Disability Confident guidance also emphasises creating cultures where disabled employees can feel confident sharing needs and accessing appropriate support.

Founded by Inclusive Employers in 2013, National Inclusion Week® (NIW) is a yearly event dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to build inclusive workplaces.

National Inclusion Week® offers organisations an opportunity to spark conversations, inspire thinking and drive meaningful action around inclusion across the workplace.

What makes National Inclusion Week® unique is that it involves everyone. It creates space to discuss intersectional issues and engage all communities across gender, race, religion, LGBTQ+, disability, carers and social mobility.

Whether organisations are just starting their inclusion journey or building on existing progress, National Inclusion Week® helps turn intention into action.

Inclusion in a changing world

Build Trust. Navigate Change. is about recognising that inclusion requires more than intention alone. It requires ongoing action, accountability and a willingness to keep moving forward, even during periods of uncertainty and change.
